Colt's Interview...

...it is very possible that I forgot to do everyone's annual interview last fall, so we are going to try doing it in reference to their birthdays, and since Colt's is next week here is his...yes, it is 10 minutes long, but every second of it made me smile.  Shows so much of his personality, his attention span, his interests, his happiness, and of course his cuteness!  So enjoy!

Skye is my sweet little helper while the kids are in school and I just love her to pieces! She loves loves loves primary, singing songs, having lessons, and her teachers. Last Saturday night she threw up but felt fine Sunday morning. Out of precaution I told her she had to stay home and she was quickly in tears. Greg and I had to convince her that she could have primary with daddy and that they would do everything her class does. That satisfied her, but she was still sad. She is learning so much! We have "school" at least once a day to work on her letter sounds and I am amazed at how hard she works to get them right. She can say the entire alphabet and all the sounds that go with the letters in and out of order. We are still working on making the right sounds when she talks, but she is one smart girl and she will get it soon (after we break the bad habits). She is a silly sue and fits in wonderfully with the rest of my kids in that department. She keeps us on our toes, pushes our buttons, challenges just about everything, but when push comes to shove she is a good little girl, and a cutie to boot!

This little buddy of mine amazes me all the time! He is soooooo smart, remember towards the end of last year when he rattled off all of his 9 times tables? He is proving to be a math whiz! He reads with 100% accuracy (according to his teacher, that is really rare). He is kind to everyone, especially when it comes to the new kids or kids that have challenges (of course he doesn't see them as challenges, he sees them as cool things about them). He is a very sensitive kid and tears up very easily. It can be frustrating at times, but he is getting better at problem solving and working out his frustrations in different ways. He loves to run and jump. One day just for fun he ran around the house 30 times. He is the first to challenge his siblings to a race. He hangs up his Sunday clothes almost every week without being asked (his sisters could learn from him). He is so good at trying all kinds of foods and we are surprised by the things he loves some days (I think he surprises himself too.) He NEVER complains about doing chores, and I am not exaggerating, he may not love to do them, but he will do it the first time he is asked with no grumbling. He is just plain and simply AWESOME!
Love you buddy boy!

Interviewing Skye...

...yeah, I love these posts and this year I got to do it on the video camera so we can actually hear her answers first hand...I don't have to try and type her responses, it just isn't the same. Here is Last Years

I appologize for the wind. I will have to remember that for next time, but it was such a BEAUTIFUL day we had to be outside.I love to watch old movies of Jacey when she was first learning to talk (sadly I am not sure I have any of Dax. I will have to look deeper) and since they do eventually learn to speak clearly you forget these early days of language...another yay for the video camera we will forever be able to listen to Skye's cute voice!

If I Had a Million Dollars...

...I would buy your LOVE...

I have had this song in my head all day so I thought first I would share it with all my friends that are caugth in the country world and second get it stuck in all your heads-hoping that maybe it would get out of my head and lastly I thought I would ask the kids what they would do with a million dollars...enjoy their answers

M: Jacey if you had a million dollars what would you buy?
J: I would buy 90 toys that cost a cent
M: Do they make toys that cost only 1 cent? (she is learning about $$ in school so I thought I would try to encourage her to really think about it)
J: no
M: So what would you buy?
J: A barbie riding a horse for $20
M: Would you buy anything else?
J: A Pet Shop for $15
M: What would you do with all your money that is left over?
J: Buy a piece of candy for 5 cents, and then maybe a laptop.
M: Anything else?
J: How much money do I have left?
M: Well let's see you have $999,564.95
J: My own set of markers and pencils
(and then as she looks around the room)
J: My own calendar
M: What would you do with a calendar?
J: I would write what is happening in the months like you
M: okay you still have lots and lots of money left if you could buy anything in this whole world what would it be?
J: A horse, a dog, and a new pair of levis that don't have holes in them (thanks Jace! make me look like I dress you like an orphan everyday) and a new pair of shoes.
M: Are you done shopping?
J: My own camera-that just came to my head I really want that and then I would save the rest of it.

M: Dax what would you buy if you had a million dollars?
D: My own phone
J: ah man I wanted my own phone too
D: you can share with mom
J: Mom are all these things going to be true?
M: Only if you win a million dollars. Kay Dax what else would you buy.
D: Some new glasses
M: Why would you need new glasses?
D: Because I lost my other sunglasses
M: Okay if you could buy anything in this whole wide world what would it be?
D: Oh I know a new train that I have never seen, and I want my own seat for my computer.
M: Anything else?
D: Yeah, my own big Thomas that is at that store and my own suitcase
M: What do you need a suitcase for?
D: So I can put all my movies in it and a new Terrance because I lost him in the dirt
(as he looks around the room)
D: My own lamp
J: Man he is doing all the stuff I wanted but forgot to say
D: And a lot of train stuff.

How simple life would be if we were ages 6 (almost 7) and 4 (almost 5). I think our world would be in a lot better state if we let the kids run it. What do you say...should we veto adult power and let these little people take over?

oh and for postertities sake a Barbie with a horse costs $40 and all those little trains that Dax loves to collect and sometimes looses in the dirt cost $7-9 each

If you could buy anything what would it be?

Anywhere but down for a nap. If I hear anyone say "let's go" or "come on" I will grab the first pair of shoes I see (it doesn't matter who's shoes) and head for the door, then if no one follows I will come back to get you. Iron Fred...

...and Jace. Jacey and Dax have been on a huskies kick lately, they play Iron Will all day long and today they put their heads together and took their make believe one step further into creating their own sled (aka a rocking chair) and it worked pretty well.

Every once in a while I like to have interviews with my kids (and husband) to see what they think of life. Tonight I asked them what they wanted to do when they grew up and Jacey wants to be a farmer and when asked what kind of a farmer she said "One with a barn".

Dax wants to be Thomas, not Thomas' driver but Thomas the Tank Engine. Greg and I saw an opportunity to endorse our dinner that he was not eating and told him that if he wanted to be as strong as a train he had to eat his chicken and all of his dinners better. He replied with a "No, Thomas doesn't eat he just has to drink water". The kid out smarted us tonight. Thomas is a steam engine and sure enough all he needs is water (and fire but we wont encourage him to eat that).

Greg wants to be "amazing" he doesn't care at what he just wants people to say "man he is amazing" good luck with that honey-just kidding I already think you are amazing.

Watch for more of our interview tomorrow.

Food for Thought...

"First, educate your hands and your minds. You belong to a church which espouses education...Get all the education you can. Train yourselves to make a contribution to the society in which you will live. There is an essence of the divine in the improvement of the mind."
President Gordon B. Hinckley
