Day 8...

...today I am grateful for overall good health and healthcare providers that meet my desires and needs. So remember allll those posts I posted about daily headaches, weekly/daily migraines...I am happy to report that they are, for the most part, a thing of the past!!  As long as I eat clean, avoid most dairy (especially processed cheese) and grains, stay active, drink my water...you get the idea, live a healthy lifestyle (some-days easier said than done-those are the days I will suffer though...so it is usually a pretty easy choice).  I am grateful for Dr. L for taking the time to help me figure things out, for suggesting lifestyle changes and for not just writing me a script for drugs that have "headache" listed as a common side effect...seriously most pain meds do.  I went to see him today not realizing that I hadn't seen him since June...in that time I have completely revamped my diet and fitness, have lost over 20 lbs, watched many documentaries about health and wellness.  We had so much fun comparing notes. As our appointment was ending he thanked ME for making good changes.  Never once have I felt like I was just a patient and he was out to get my money by suggesting multiple appointments a month.
quite the grainy picture, but his massage chair....um...what to say...WOW!

this hangs in his office, and pretty much sums up our visits.

so along with those healthy changes I participated in a 6 week series of GRIT-think personal training, but in a small group setting so it is loads cheaper, now think boot camp, coaches threatening you if you stop, pushing yourself and then having them push you even further.  One of the BEST workouts I have ever done, it is only 30 minutes long and trust me that is a good thing.  So before I started I was put through a series of tests as a pre-screening to get my baseline fitness.  At the end of the 6 weeks I was given the same test and here are my increases...and I am happy to report I increased in every test in not only count, but form.  Results don't lie, I am one tough chick...watch out! ;)
now make sure you are reading this chart right...these are not my actual #s just what I increased by...promise I can do elbow plank for a heck of a lot longer than 24 seconds, and my vertical is lots more than 2.75 inches :) just had to make sure that was clear

Food for Thought...

"First, educate your hands and your minds. You belong to a church which espouses education...Get all the education you can. Train yourselves to make a contribution to the society in which you will live. There is an essence of the divine in the improvement of the mind."
President Gordon B. Hinckley
